Dilemma

Online the parents were present whereas in a normal situation I decide what happens next.

In what ways did you respond to this dilemma

I tried to make the most of it, but I felt very constrained as I could not resort to all the activities I normally undertake. I tried to digitalise as much as I could and I used programmes such as Bouw and Prowise but working in front of a computer talking to my kids over the webcam is not my cup of tea.

What are the implications for teaching and learning now that the pandemic is not closing schools?

I have become aware of my role as a primary teacher. How you need to start the day with a check in, a how are you feeling today activity. I enjoy starting the day with a personal connection. I also try to give kids the opportunity to work together with a partner. Working with a partner helps kids to cooperate and builds community in your classroom. Pupils will learn how to negotiate with other kids and figure out their own strengths.
